Otto is the most recent addition to our door knocker collection and probably our most ambitious. We were keen to portray the traits of an otter; its powerful webbed feet, long body, thick fur and muscular tail as well as show its playful personality. Our otter door knocker is facing down on the door with its head slightly raised making a perfect hand-hold for knocking. Its head is tilted indicating alertness to danger and we added a fish in its jaws to enhance the link to the wilderness. We have tried to capture the natural characteristics of this wild creature as closely as possible; typical of an otter, his ears are almost hidden in his fur and his eyes are small.
The fixing bracket is hidden underneath his tail and rump to ensure it is unseen by visitors as they approach your door. Otto is one of our smaller door knockers but he still pulls a punch weighing just over 700g. It knocks with its front paws which carry the weight to make a resounding knock. A truly unique piece, our otter door knocker is a perfect addition to a riverside or coastal property.
